Presumpscot Legacy Society

Our connection to future generations and their access to conserved land, clean water, and wildlife habitat is strengthened by planned gifts. Planned giving allows the land trust to make long-term investments in conservation, stewardship, and public access.

There are many ways that you can leave a legacy on the Presumpscot. Explore ways of giving below:

  • By naming Presumpscot Regional Land Trust in your will or trust arrangement as a primary or contingent beneficiary, Land Trust supporters can leave a legacy for their beloved organization and for future generations to enjoy.

If you have already left the Land Trust in your estate plans, please contact William Sedlack at will@prlt.org or (207) 839-4633, so that the Land Trust can properly recognize your commitment.

  • Life insurance policies and retirement plan assets are other simple ways to designate the Land Trust as a primary or contingent beneficiary. Leaving charity as a beneficiary of your retirement plan often saves on taxes and leaves more for your heirs. You may also designate the Land Trust as a beneficiary on other financial accounts and Donor Advised Funds. Beneficiary designations are easy to complete and can often be done directly on the plan providers website.

  • By donating land or real estate to the Land Trust today, you may be able to reduce capital gains tax or receive an income tax deduction. Real estate gifts do not need to have conservation value; your personal residence, vacation home/condominium or commercial property can also be donated to the Land Trust. If accepted, the Land Trust will sell the asset and use the proceeds to support its mission.

Your art collection, valuables, and other personal property that you have acquired with care and thought over a lifetime can be donated to the Land Trust. Under certain circumstances, you may qualify to receive a tax deduction for your donation of personal property. Please consult with your advisor before making any decisions.

We would be honored to discuss any of these giving options with you.  For more information about including the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust in your estate plans or for gifts of stock, please email William Sedlack, Executive Director at Will@prlt.org or by phone (207) 839-4633.
