Please join us on May 4th from 10 AM - 12PM, for the Grand Opening of the East Windham Conservation Area. This event is co-hosted by the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust, the Town of Windham, the Greater Portland New England Biking Association, and Runaways Run Club.
The East Windham Conservation Area, owned by the town of Windham, with a conservation easement held by Presumpscot Regional Land Trust, was conserved in September 2023. The Conservation Area is 700 acres of land, which is roughly the size of Bradbury Mountain State Park. This area is now part of a 2,000-acre conservation corridor – larger than any state park in Southern Maine. This project is the largest wildlife habitat, clean water, and recreational trail corridor in Greater Portland and provides a 30-mile trail network connecting Windham’s Lowell Preserve, and Falmouth’s North Falmouth Community Forest and Blackstrap Hill Preserve.
The event will begin at the new East Windham Conservation Area parking area, located at 187 Falmouth Rd, Windham ME. The grand opening event will include a journey on a three-mile hilly trail to a scenic overlook with views of Little Duck Pond. There will be three guided trip options: hiking, trail running, and mountain biking.
This event is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Please RSVP for the event here.
*All mountain bikers are expected to bring their own equipment. The inclement weather date is Sunday, May 5th, at 10am.
